Unique wedding place cards are among the first details your guests will notice at your reception.
So... use your wedding place cards as a fun way to start the night just like you want.
Just imagine, your friends and family have just seen you get married. They have been busy getting ready, meeting relatives, finding their way around town to your ceremony and reception.
They've been on an emotional roller coaster (a good one-roller coasters are fun) as they have been watching you get married, remembering their own weddings, contemplating the passage of time, and so on. They have had enough heavy subject matter to deal with for the day.
Time to relax, and you have just the place for that at your reception. So, when they get to your reception, have fun entertaining them from the start with original, fun wedding place cards that help carry your theme. These are inexpensive, easy to customize, and run the gamut from whimsical to elegant.
Some wedding place card holders double as wedding favors so you can take care of two things at once. For example, these purse place card holders can double as photo frames your guests can use for a long time to come. No matter what your theme, there are lots of themed place card holders that can do the job.
Wedding place cards can help you carry your theme! If you're using a "brand" or logo throughout your wedding, your place cards can be a part of that, too. You can use the same monogram you use on your monogram cake topper as a logo on your place cards. Similarly, you can make great do it yourself wedding place cards with the self inking stamp you use elsewhere in your wedding stationery and decorations.
One of the easiest ways to make a difference with the details is to make custom wedding place cards, either as a do it yourself project or with a custom wedding logo that you can use elsewhere in your wedding - on invitations, save the date cards/magnets, thank you cards, favor labels, even candles.
Your wedding decorations and reception place cards will look like you spared no expense. But the truth is, using a custom wedding logo is not necessarily more expensive than any other method. Few people go beyond putting their names and dates on an item or two because they just assume that customization is too expensive and too time consuming. If it ever was or is any of those things, it simply isn't anymore.
Wedding place cards are an inexpensive way to make a huge impression with this little bit of attention to detail. It's not required by any means and you can still have a great wedding without place cards at all.
But it's worth considering, because if you're going to spend time, effort, and money on place cards for your reception anyway, there is nothing to lose and everything to gain by customizing your wedding place cards with a logo, monogram, or stamp design.

Tip: If you don’t want to have assigned seating for your guests, still consider “saved seating” for your wedding party and immediate family. Place cards for the wedding party will eliminate any confusion about who sits where, and seat assignments for your families will ensure that mom and dad get prime seating even though they may be the last people to arrive at the reception (along with the rest of the wedding party). You wouldn’t want Mom and Dad sitting back in a corner while some second and third cousins have the table right next to yours.
No matter what kind of wedding place cards you decide to use, take a look at our wedding place card holder page for some fun ideas for getting your guests to their table and incorporating your theme as well.
Do it yourself wedding place cards: Don’t want to spend extra money on place cards? You can buy some heavy card stock and use a paper cutter to cut the pages to the right size. Then write names on the cards by hand or print them out using your computer. Plain card stock can be “dressed up” by using a monogram stamp in your wedding color(s) or another design that you have used elsewhere in your wedding (i.e., your logo or brand that is carried throughout the event).
