Wedding napkins - a boring detail? Not exactly. They play a small, but important part in carrying your wedding theme through the evening.

We're not talking about your dinner wedding napkins here (likely rented linens or high quality paper), but those smaller beverage napkins and dessert napkins.

Studies show that people remember things that happen at the beginning and end of an event. Try it: have a friend or family Member say a string of 10 or more objects or numbers for you to remember. You likely remember the first few and last one or two, with maybe a vague recollection of those in the middle.

How does this relate to your wedding day? Consider your ceremony. Everyone will remember you walking down the aisle at probably the most beautiful moment of your life. And the kiss that ends the service is not likely to be forgotten. The stuff in the middle - cherished by you forever, but not likely to stick with your guests for quite as long.

On to the reception. The gorgeous decorations of your reception site - table centerpieces, favors for the guests, and an impressive wedding cake - will all make a lasting first impression.

But what about that final memory? Receptions tend to be very "front end loaded" - in other words, most organized activity occurs in the first half (e.g., food, first dance, cutting the cake, etc.). From there, you may have mingling, dancing, drinking, and eating cake – wherein many of your guests will gradually make their exit.

Three primary activities for this second half of the reception include eating cake, drinking coffee or tea, and/or getting drinks from your bar. All three of these offer an opportunity to carry your wedding colors or theme to the end by offering more than the standard white beverage or dessert wedding napkins.

Instead, consider buying some wedding napkins to match or complement your wedding colors from a party supply store or getting
personalized wedding napkins, complete with your names and date. These little touches show that you have thought of everything, down to that last bite of cake and final sip of coffee. They become "icing on the cake" in your guests' memories.
