Save the date magnets - make your big day "stick" out on your guests' calendars by creating anticipation about what's to come.

You are truly the considerate hostess if you are considering sending save the date magnets. After all, not only are you saying, "Hey, I want you to come to my wedding so much that I want to make it easier for you with advanced notice." But you're also saying, "I want to make it easier for you to remember with this little save the date magnet."

It's a REALLY nice touch that is not expensive. After all, you'll have some out of town guests that are members of out of town families - so you only need one magnet with your wedding date per family. And most people won't have enough out of town families to break the bank on this item.

That said, these are by no means required, nor are save the date cards. But they do show you're serious about wanting your guests to attend because wedding invitations are sent only 4-6 weeks prior to the event whereas save the date cards or magnets are sent 3 months to a year in advance.

If you really want to cover the details, you can use your
save the date cards and save the date magnets to provide a way to get more information.

The save the date card is a great place to include information (names, phone numbers, etc.) for any special travel and/or hotel arrangements you have made for your guests - like a room discount if they mention your names.

Another piece of information to include is your personal wedding website, if you have one. That way, guests can access up-to-date info on your ceremony and reception site, your bridal registry, and any other cool stuff you may have included.

All this stuff is good, helpful, and all of that but there's something else about save the date magnets that is much more fun. Your save the date magnet is likely going to be in a prominent place - on the refrigerator. That makes it a perfect way to create excitement about your wedding events in advance. If you do it right, your save the date magnets won't just stick to the refrigerator - they'll make your day stick out in your guests' minds as a day of fun that they won't want to miss.

How do you do that?

It's easy. Just find a motif, theme, or make a custom logo that gives a hint of what's to come on your big day.

There's lots more info about this great idea at our custom save the date notes page. But in any case, whether you use save the date notes or custom design save the date magnets, don't miss this opportunity to show your guests that you really want them to be there.
